St. Ignatius's Prayer for Generosity

Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for any reward,
save that of knowing that I am doing your will.
Each time the Loyola School community gathers for a morning assembly, members of the Student Government lead the student body in the prayer above – St. Ignatius’s Prayer for Generosity.  Once each week, the entire community stops all other activity for seven minutes in order to pray the Examen, a form of Ignatian prayer which provides the opportunity to recognize and reflect on God’s presence in daily experience and notice patterns of behavior in response to that presence.

Each school year begins with the Mass of the Holy Spirit, and the entire community gathers together in St. Ignatius Loyola church or Wallace Hall eight additional times throughout the year to celebrate liturgy. Loyola students, faculty, and staff are also invited to attend liturgy in the school chapel approximately once a month. Once each semester, students gather by grade for a class Mass; mentors, moderators, coaches, and teachers can also arrange Masses for specific groups of students. Students serve as Eucharistic Ministers, lectors, cantors, and altar servers for all Masses, and are involved in selecting the music and preparing the petitions. The sacrament of reconciliation is offered during reconciliation services for the entire School in the seasons of Advent and Lent.
